Use cases

Where M7.5 fits — and where it doesn't

Specifying the right grade saves money and avoids rework. Below is a quick guide based on IS 456 norms and our delivery experience in Prakasam district.

Use M7.5 for

  • Foundation blinding (75 – 100 mm PCC layer below footings / raft)
  • Levelling course under column bases and pile caps
  • Mass fill in non-loadbearing trenches
  • Sub-grade for cement-concrete roads (where M10 is over-spec)
  • Garden / pathway base where strength is not critical

Don't use M7.5 for

  • Any RCC element — slabs, beams, columns, lintels
  • Compound walls or pavements with embedded steel
  • Water-retaining structures
Engineering notes

How we batch M7.5

Per IS 456:2000, M7.5 is classified as ordinary grade and is permitted only for plain concrete in non-structural roles. There is no IS 456 minimum cement content for this grade because it does not carry load or protect embedded steel. Typical mix uses 200 – 240 kg/m³ cement.

Every dispatch from our Mallavarappadu and Gundlapalli plants includes a batch slip with mix proportions and a 28-day cube test report — generated from the same load you receive. M7.5 is delivered in transit mixers and placed either by direct chute discharge or by line pump for upper-floor slabs, columns, and pours the truck can't reach. For projects above 50,000 m³, we can set up a dedicated batching plant on your site with a project-specific mix design and on-site QC lab.

FAQ

Common questions about M7.5

When do I need M7.5?
Only as a 75 – 100 mm blinding layer below your footing or raft, or as inert fill in trenches that carry no load. If there is rebar above it, M7.5 is the right choice — it gives a level surface to place steel, nothing more.
Can I use M7.5 for a compound wall footing?
No. Compound walls with rebar need M15 minimum. Use M7.5 only as the PCC bed below the M15 footing.
