About Robo Sand

Conforms to IS 383:2016 for manufactured fine aggregate, Zone II grading. Silt content is typically under 3% (river sand often runs 8 – 12% in this region), which improves cement efficiency and gives more consistent strength than unscreened sand.

Use cases

Where Robo Sand fits — and where it doesn't

Specifying the right aggregate size and grade saves cement, simplifies placement, and avoids rework. Below is a quick guide based on IS / MoRT&H norms and what we see ordered from our Chimakurthy crusher across Prakasam district.

Use Robo Sand for

  • Fine aggregate for all ready-mix and site-mixed concrete (M15 to M40)
  • Plastering mortars (internal and external)
  • Brick and block masonry mortar
  • Tile-laying mortar and grouts
  • Precast concrete (replaces river sand 100%)
  • Self-compacting concrete (where consistent gradation matters)

Don't use Robo Sand for

  • Sand-blasting (the gradation is wrong for abrasive work)
  • Filter media for water treatment
FAQ

Common questions about Robo Sand

Is Robo Sand as good as river sand for concrete?
Yes — when produced to IS 383 spec, manufactured sand performs equivalent or better than river sand in concrete. Lower silt content means better cement efficiency and higher consistent strength. River sand from this region is also increasingly hard to source due to mining restrictions.
Can Robo Sand be used for plastering?
Yes. For plastering use, the sand goes through an extra fine-screening pass to ensure smoother finish. Specify "Robo Sand for plastering" when ordering and we will dispatch the screened stock.
How is Robo Sand different from quarry dust?
Robo Sand is screened and graded to meet IS 383 Zone II for concrete fine aggregate. Quarry dust (crusher dust) is the un-graded 0 – 6 mm fines that come off the screens — useful as fill or paver-block mix but not interchangeable with M-sand for structural concrete.
