M40 ready-mix
concrete
M40 is the top of our standard range — high-performance structural concrete for pre-stressed beams, marine and extreme-exposure RCC, and very-high-rise structures.
M40 mix design parameters
IS 456:2000 durability minimums for the extreme exposure class. Project-specific mix designs are signed off by our QC team.
Where M40 fits — and where it doesn't
Specifying the right grade saves money and avoids rework. Below is a quick guide based on IS 456 norms and our delivery experience in Prakasam district.
Use M40 for
- Pre-stressed concrete beams and girders
- Marine and immersed structures (jetties, sea walls)
- Pre-stressed bridge girders (post-tensioned)
- Very-high-rise structural columns (above G+15)
- Industrial structures exposed to chlorides or sulphates
- Nuclear / petrochemical high-spec foundations
- High-performance pre-cast elements
Don't use M40 for
- Where lower grades meet structural and exposure spec
- General residential work
How we batch M40
Extreme-exposure designs (IS 456 Table 3) typically pair M40 with microsilica or fly-ash supplementation, GGBS, and a high-range water reducer to achieve 0.40 w/c while keeping a pumpable mix. Trial cubes are mandatory; final mix proportions are signed off against project-specific structural and durability requirements.
Every dispatch from our Mallavarappadu and Gundlapalli plants includes a batch slip with mix proportions and a 28-day cube test report — generated from the same load you receive. M40 is delivered in transit mixers and placed either by direct chute discharge or by line pump for upper-floor slabs, columns, and pours the truck can't reach. For projects above 50,000 m³, we can set up a dedicated batching plant on your site with a project-specific mix design and on-site QC lab.
